Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data Quantum Nature collects, why we collect it, and how you can access or remove it. We keep collection to what the site actually needs: running the pages, moderating comments, and sending the newsletter to people who ask for it.

Who we are

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string, to help with spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public alongside your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the site.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These save you from re-entering your details on your next comment, and last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we set several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last two days, and screen options cookies last a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login persists for two weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies.

Editing or publishing an article saves one additional cookie in your browser. It contains no personal data and simply records the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after one day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content such as videos, images, or articles. Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you had visited that other website directly.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that site.

Newsletter subscriptions

When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect the email address you provide and pass it to Brevo, the third-party service that stores our subscriber list and delivers the emails. We use it only to send Quantum Nature updates. Every email includes an unsubscribe link that removes you from the list, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. Newsletter email addresses are shared with Brevo as described above. We do not sell your data or share it beyond the services needed to run the site.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely, so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users who register on the website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time, except they cannot change their username. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Newsletter data is processed by Brevo, which may store it outside your country of residence.
